Patna, November 21
The Rashtriya Janata Dal today declared former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Prasad Yadav as the party’s chief ministerial face for the next state Assembly elections scheduled for 2020.
The RJD, at its national executive meet here, also re-elected Lalu Prasad Yadav as its national president.
Jagdanand Singh, senior RJD leader-cum-general returning officer, announced that the party would contest the next state poll under Tejaswi. Other senior leaders, including RJD’s state chief Ramchandra Purve, approved the proposal in unison saying the “next government would be formed under Tejaswi’s leadership”. RJD representatives from 24 states attended the national executive-cum-open session.
Lalu Prasad, who was declared unopposed as the party president, targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his promises of ‘achhe din’. “Modi promised to bring back black money from Swiss banks, provide employment to youth, but noting has happened,” he said.
Attacking LJP chief and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, Lalu said he would write a book to bring out the truth before the people on how the Mandal Commission worked. “Whatever Paswan claimed on Mandal Commission was false and fabricated,” he claimed.
