Hyderabad, December 8
The EC has revised the poll percentage of Telangana to 73.2%. In 2014, the polling percentage was 69.5% , taking the polling in the first Telangana poll up from last time by 3.7%.
Meanwhile, many complaints have been received of missing names from voter lists, especially in the Greater Hyderabad area, which has recorded one of the lowest polling at around 50%. The Chief Electoral Officer has ordered a probe.
Cong rejects exit poll, says will form govt
Lending little credence to the exit polls that have favoured the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), state Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy has claimed the Congress-led ‘Praja Kutami’ (people’s alliance) would form the next government when the result is declared on December 11.
Reddy said he did not take the exit poll seriously as the enthusiasm of the people belied all exit poll results. He said the ‘Praja Kutami’ would get 75-80 seats. He claimed that the TRS would not get more than 35 seats. The majority of exit polls have predicted victory for the TRS.
He said the exit polls have been sponsored by the BJP, but the results would be in favour of the Congress-led alliance. He said, “Before the elections, CM KC Rao and his son KTR claimed TRS would get 100 seats. Now, they have come down to 80. I’m sure once counting begins, TRS will not get more than 35 seats.”
