Paying tributes to the Founder of The Tribune, Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, on the 134th anniversary of the paper, Justice SS Sodhi, President of The Tribune Trust, at a ceremony organised here today reaffirmed the group publications’ commitment to fair and balanced journalism.
Justice Sodhi also launched the all-new Internet edition of The Tribune (www.tribuneindia.com) on the occasion, calling it an extension of the Founder’s vision of the paper being the ‘voice of the people’.
He noted that The Tribune was a “unique newspaper that aims to report with fairness and take a balanced view”. It did not have profit as the motive, and was not aligned to any particular ideology, he said. “It is in this spirit that the Internet edition of The Tribune would provide extensive content from the region, nation and on the diaspora, with 24x7 news updates and exclusive features and services,” Justice Sodhi said.
Introducing the website, Raj Chengappa, Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune Group of Publications, said the endeavour would be to make it the best online publication of North India for news, information, opinion, analysis, and entertainment, while always championing the cause of the people.
Among those present were Vinay Verma, General Manager; Santosh Tiwari, Editor of Dainik Tribune; Surinder Singh Tej, Officiating Editor of Punjabi Tribune; and other staff of The Tribune group.
