Two flights grounded after bomb scare at Delhi airport
New Delhi, January 27
A bomb scare led authorities at the Indira Gandhi International Airport to ground two commercial planes to Kathmandu on Wednesday.
An Air India flight AI-215 that was to leave at 1. 15 am and a Jet airways flight 9Q 260 that was to leave at 1.30 am were both grounded after the airport received an anonymous call claiming there were explosives in the two flights.
This is the second such incident that the airport saw in since Saturday, when the same Jet Airways flight had to be delayed after a call about a bomb in the aircraft. The call had later turned out to be a hoax.
Some 121 people were to fly the Air India flight and 122 on Jet.
The two aircrafts were taken to an isolated bay for searches.
"Jet Airways flight 9W 260, scheduled to depart from Delhi for Kathmandu at 1325 hrs, has been delayed due to a security alert. All 122 guests and 7 crew have been taken to the departures waiting area at the airport," Jet Airways said in a statement. — PTI
