ULFA leader Chetia released; talks peace

Guwahati: ULFA general secretary Golap Baruah, alias Anup Chetia, has been released from the Guwahati Central Jail. Chetia had on Wednesday got bail in the last of the four cases against him, paving the way for his release. The ULFA leader said he was in favour of the ongoing peace talks between the Centre and ULFA for restoring peace in Assam. Chetia was handed over to India by Bangladesh where he was in jail since his arrest in 1997. —PTI
