The CPI today laid a roadmap for building a secular and democratic alternative to the ruling BJP-led NDA at the Centre, which includes unity among the Left parties and their alignment with like-minded parties.
The CPI’s blue print for the possible alternative is part of its draft political resolution, which was released today, to be adopted during its next Congress — the highest policy making body of the party.
The Congress, which is scheduled to be held from March 25-29, will take stock of poor performance of the Left, particularly the CPI, in the last General Election.
Releasing the draft resolution, CPI general secretary Sudhakar Reddy said: “With the formation of the NDA government headed by Narendra Modi, a definite rightward shift has occurred.”
“The new government represents the combination of corporate capital, right wing ideology and rabid form of communalism,” he said. He accused the government of promoting private sector and reduction of expenditure on subsidies and social sector.
