Lucknow, August 6
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today assured that registration of marriages under the Anand Marriage Act will soon begin in the state.
Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa met CM Yogi to apprise him of the problems being faced by the Sikhs in getting their marriages registered.
Sirsa submitted a written presentation revealing that the Anand Marriage Act passed by Parliament had not been implemented in UP due to which the community was facing problems as the registration of marriages had been made mandatory. On August 1, the state Cabinet approved the UP Marriages Registration Rules, 2017, making it mandatory for couples from all religions to get their marriages registered. — TNS
