Addressing a campaign rally at Vanthli in Junagadh district, Congress president Rahul Gandhi ridiculed Modi’s “son of the soil” theory and said while he addressed all Gujaratis only as “mitron (friends),” he calls Anil Ambani, Nirav Modi and such other rich industrialists as “bhai (brother)”.

Modi did not hesitate to put his farmer friend behind the bars for non-payment of Rs 20,000 bank loans, but did not blink an eyelid when his industrialist brothers ran away from the country defrauding the banks thousands of crores of rupees,” he added.

Reaffirming that the Congress government if voted to power would stop imprisoning poor farmers for loan default, Rahul said, “I will agree that they too can be jailed for non-payment of bank loans only the day Anil Ambani, Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallay are put behind the bars.”

He claimed that in the last five years, Modi had created two India, one for the rich and the other for poor. “The Congress government will wipe out the injustices to the poor and make it one India again,” he said. — TNS
