Won’t canvass, says Kiran’s husband

Terming former IPS officer Kiran Bedi’s move to join politics spontaneous, her husband and social activist Brij Bedi today said he would not be able to campaign for her in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly elections due to health reasons.

Brij said Kiran’s sister and brother-in-law had reached Delhi to help her. Besides, her two adopted daughters were there to support her. The couple has a lone daughter, Saina, who is married to a filmmaker in Pune. He said Saina, too, would not be able to devote much time to her poll campaign as she had a baby to look after.

“Ours is a close-knit family. We are staying at different places due to our work commitments. Kiran is busy with her NGOs in Delhi, while I am running a school for the children of drug addicts at Maqboolpura here,” Brij said.

He said he would garner support for his wife through social media. On Kiran’s decision to join politics, Brij said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi inspired her to join politics.”
