‘Saamna’ offices attacked over Maratha stir cartoon

Offices of Saamna, Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece, in Navi Mumbai and Thane were attacked by miscreants allegedly over a cartoon on the ongoing Maratha protests in Maharashtra.
The police said stones were thrown at Saamna’s Navi Mumbai offices at while ink was thrown at its Thane office today. The police said security had as been strengthened on Saamna offices across the state following a complaint from newspaper’s executives.
On Monday, Saamna published a cartoon playing on the words “Muk Morcha” as the supposedly leaderless protests by the Maratha community are called. The cartoon portrayed a “kiss protest” under the words “mukha morcha” angering sections of the Maratha community that was being wooed by the Shiv Sena.
Tuesday’s edition of Saamna declared that the Shiv Sena was full supportive of the demands made by the Maratha community and carried detailed reports on press conferences organized by community leaders to further intensify the protests.
After mobilizing lakhs of people across Maharashtra, the faceless leaders of the protest operating via social media, have threatened to hold protests in Mumbai and Delhi in the coming days.
