To give a better future to coming generations, there is a need to utilise the natural resources judiciously, said Kaptan Singh Solanki, Punjab and Haryana Governor-cum-UT Administrator, here today.
Solanki visited the town today to inaugurate the Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), here.
Stressing the need to conserve natural resources and environment to ensure better future for the coming generations, Solanki said the conservation did not mean stopping use of oil and gas, but avoiding wastages at every step. It was the moral duty of one and all to utilise available resources judiciously.
He appreciated the efforts of oil and gas companies in spreading the message of conservation of precious petroleum products.
The Governor said India was emerging as a major player in the world economy and with rapid economic growth, the country’s demand for petroleum was increasing every year.
He also distributed awards among the students who excelled in generating awareness.
Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion included Kamal Chaudhry, Secretary, Food and Civil Supply, Punjab, PK Dass, state-level coordinator and Executive Director, GS Sodhi, Nagesh Mittal, Sanjay Arora and Sudhir Satish.
