Orphanage kids drugged, raped, says Kathua team

Girls rescued from an orphanage here were allegedly being drugged and raped. They were given candies and chocolates laced with drugs, says a complaint to the police on Saturday by a five-member team of district officers.
The team had raided the “illegal” orphanage run by pastor Anthony on Friday and saved 19 minors, including eight girls. According to the complaint, the pastor would show the girls porn videos, “undress them and touch them inappropriately”. Anyone who resisted was thrashed mercilessly.
“The boys say they too were stripped naked and beaten up,” the complaint reads. The pastor, a native of Kerala who arrived in Kathua in 1994, has been sent to seven days’ police remand. — TNS
