Solan, December 4
To broaden international cooperation, a letter of intent (LOI) was signed between officials of the Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF) and Western Sydney University (WSU), Australia, last week.
The two universities will undertake joint collaborative research and exchange programmes in horticultural and forestry sciences through this arrangement. It will also enable the development of collaborative projects, organisation of joint academic and scientific activities, such as courses, conferences, seminars, symposia and lectures between the two universities. Exchange of academic staff for teaching, research activities and exchange of PhD students to undertake study or participate in research programmes will also be facilitated. Prof Barney Glover, Vice-Chancellor and president, Western Sydney University, and Dr Rajkumar Kumar Thakur, Joint Director, Communications, UHF-Nauni, signed the etter of intent, another step in promoting the university’s international research gamut.
“The purpose of the letter of intent is to provide a framework by which the two universities may in the future undertake joint activities together,” Dr HC Sharma, VC, UHF-Nauni, said. He said the collaboration was important as it would enable a study on honeybees and bumblebees .— TNS
