Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla conducted a surprise check at the Employees State Insurance Hospital, Majitha road, here on Thursday. He instructed officials to get the broken window glasses replaced immediately.
Aujla said the broken windows inconvenienced the patients, especially children and elders, as the weather is quite cold. He asked the officials to arrange for heaters for the hospital wards. “It is painful to see patients and their attendants shivering in cold,” he said.
Aujla also asked the hospital management to ensure cleanliness at the hospitals, especially urinals and washrooms. Unhappy with the condition of cleanliness, he said the officials concerned should make a daily round of the place to check sanitation.
The ESI facility is used by employees having marginal income. Most of them are factory workers and it is for sure that no country can go ahead on the path of development unless factory workers are taken care of,” he said.
Dr Narinder Kaur, Medical Superintendent, ESI Hospital, said the needful would be done. She also listed problems, such as shortage of funds and manpower which hindered the hospital functioning. She said the MP assured her of help.
