Ludhiana, February 5
A salesman of Gilco Agro Private Limited allegedly siphoned off Rs 45 lakh of the company’s sales collection. He has been identified as Kulwinder Singh, a resident of Daba Road, Focal Point.
Dharminder Singh, director of Gilco Agro, Khasi Kalan, told the police that the company manufactured high quality flour, white wheat flour and other products. In June 2015, the company employed Kulwinder as salesman on a commission basis whose job was to procure orders from shopkeepers, bakeries and collect payments. He was supposed to deposit the payments collected from the clients in the account of the company.
Between 2016 and 2018, the suspect got orders worth several lakhs and he himself collected the payments from the clients. Of the total collection, he did not deposit Rs 40 lakh in the bank account of the company. The matter came to light when the shopkeepers informed the company that they had already made payments to Kulwinder, said Dharminder.
When the company asked Kulwinder to pay the company’s money, he started making hollow promises, following which a police complaint was filed.
The investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Sukhdev Raj, said a case of fraud had been registered against the suspect. He is yet to be arrested.
