Karan, Rakesh make the final cut

Karan Khaitan and Rakesh Anand qualified for the national finals of the MercedesTrophy 2019 on the third of the Gurugram leg at the ITC Classic Golf and Country Resort in Gurugram on Thursday. 

Competing in the handicap category A (0-17), Karan carded a nett score of 73 to make the cut for the finals, scheduled to be held at the Oxford Golf Resort in Pune from March 27-29.

Rakesh topped the handicap category B (18-24) with a total of 72.8. 

The MercedesTrophy 2019 has so far seen 30 qualifiers.

Shivraj Karayat, meanwhile, won the Long Drive Challenge with a mammoth 314-yard effort. 

Shekhar Agarwal won the Closest to Pin contest on the 17th hole by landing the ball 3ft from the pin. 

In the Closest to Pin in Two Shots, Sant Dhiman landed the ball 4ft from the pin to win the contest on the 12th hole. Narender Pal won the Straightest Drive contest on the seventh hole by landing the ball 1ft from the line. — TNS
