Indoor sports halls opened in Udhampur

Union Minister Dr Jitendera Singh inaugurated the Indoor Sports Hall, Subash Stadium and Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall, Ramnagar. He inaugurated these electronically from Udhampur.
Earlier, the District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Piyush Singla, presented a welcome address to the chief guest and other dignitaries on the occasion. Under “Khelo India” and “Fit India” initiatives, the DDC informed that various activities had been organised by the District Administration to inculcate moral values and promote sportsmanship among students across the district in which 1,500 students from different educational institutions participated. He congratulated the people of the district.
The students of different schools demonstrated yoga asanas, judo, played badminton and table tennis, which was appreciated by the audience on the occasion.
Naseem Javed Choudhary, Secretary, Sports Council, J&K, briefed about the indoor sports halls, Udhampur and Ramnagar.He said the indoor sports halls had been constructed under the state sector and the Pradhan Mantri, Developmental Programme (PMDP) .
After inaugurating the indoor sports halls, the Union Minister also interacted with the players and said sports inculcated not only discipline in youth but also gave wings to their determination to achieve the goals. He said the youth of the district had ample talent in sports and there was need to channelise their talent in the right direction by providing them appropriate platform. He emphasised on the sports activities in the district. The Union Minister further said the government was working to provide better sports infrastructure to the youth and provide opportunity to enthusiastic players to show their hidden talents in different sports events.
