BURAIL MURDER: Court extends accused’s remand

Chandigarh: The local court today extended the remand of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s aide, who was recently arrested for his involvement in the Sonu Shah murder case. Dharminder Singh had allegedly assisted the murder by providing the assailants with accommodation at King Palace Hotel in Sector 80, Mohali, on the directions of Lawrence Bishnoi. —TNS

Chain snatched in Sector 32  

Chandigarh: An Activa-borne miscreant snatched a gold chain from a woman in Sector 32. According to the police, the victim was targeted near her house on October 6. The victim failed to note down the registration number of the scooter the suspect was riding. “We are scrutinising the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area,” said a police official. Meanwhile, a case has been registered at the Sector 34 police station. TNS

27-yr-old Youth found hanging 

Dera Bassi: Mystery shrouds the death of a 27-year-old youth who was found hanging from a vehicle in Delhi on Monday . The police suspect it to be a case of suicide. The deceased has been identified as Malkit Singh, a resident of Mubarikpur village. However, the exact cause of death would be known after the post-mortem report, said sources. tns

1,200 boxes of liquor seized  

Ambala: The Ambala police seized 1,200 boxes of illegal liquor being smuggled in a truck on the National Highway on Sunday. The suspect has been identified as Krishan Kumar, a resident of Sonepat. The truck was stopped for checking at a naka. The driver said liquor was being transported from Rajpura to Arunachal Pradesh. He also produced the documents, but the Excise Department inspector raised suspicion. On Monday, the officials reached Rajpura for the verification of documents and they were found to have been forged. TNS
