A 25-year-old woman on Saturday gave birth to five babies — three boys and two girls — through a major Caesarean procedure at a government Janana hospital here.

One of the newborn boys who was underweight died while four were under expert supervision, said Dr Rakhi Arya, an associate professor, who led the team of junior gynaecologists who performed the surgery.
The newborns were not only underweight but also born premature. However, the condition of their mother Ruksana was normal after the delivery.
