Niharika sets new meet record

Niharika Vashisht of GGD SD College, Sector 32, set the new meet record in triple jump on the concluding day of the Punjab University Annual Athletics Meet here.

Vashisht broke the 14-year-old record with a jump of 12.36m. Renu (12.33m) finished second, while Manpreet Kaur (10.89m) ended in third place. 

Prabhdeep Kaur of DAV College, Sector 10, won the javelin gold with a throw of 42.11m. Shivani (33.02m) of KCW, Ludhiana, bagged silver while Balwinder Kaur (30.31m) of DAV College got the bronze medal.

Amandeep clocked 1.27:05s to win the half marathon gold. She was followed by Parveen Rani (1.32:02s) and Surinder Kaur (1.36:05s).

Bhateri clinched the 100m hurdles title in 16.30s. Rajni (16.70s) ended in second place while Preet (17.20s) bagged third position. 

The 200m title went to Vipanjeet Kaur (25.60s). Ruhi Rana (26.20s) won the silver. 

Jyoti recorded 4.48:20s to grab the 1500m gold. Seema (4.53:50s) and Yamini (5.11:50s) followed in second and third place respectively.

In the 4x400m, GNG College athletes clocked 4.05:60s to pocket the gold medal. GTB Khalsa College (4.16:00s) got the silver medal, while KCW College (4.17:40s) had to content with the bronze medal.

SGGS College, Sector 26, and DAV College, Sector 10, meanwhile, shared the overall trophy. Both colleges scored 110 points in the championship.

GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar (15 points), and SCD Government College, Ludhiana (13 points) finished in the second and third place respectively.  

Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana, won the overall women's championship with 56 points. Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, were a point behind at second spot, while GTB Khalsa College for Women, Dasuya, gathered 31 points to claim third position.

In the men's category, Husandeep Singh of DAV College was adjudged the best athlete. The women's title went to Vipanjeet Kaur of Guru Nanak Girls College.
