Nine booked for selling hotelier’s property on forged power of attorney

A property dealer, who is also trustee of a private chain of educational institutes, was booked for committing fraud with owners of Mohan International Hotel. The key accused has been identified as Jatinderbir Singh Bhullar alias Judge. The police has booked nine persons, including Bhullar, his mother Jasbir Kaur, deed writer Sunny Siyal and five persons, who bought the property.
In his complaint, Kapil Kumar Galhotra, owner of Mohan International Hotel, stated that they had good relations with accused Jatinderbir Singh Bhullar and he was also one of the trustees in the management of their educational institutes. He said they used to buy and sell properties through Bhullar and had a good faith in him.
On September 1, 2015, Bhullar called Galhotra to sign some property document, which they were going to buy. While Galhotra was signing documents, the accused inserted a few papers of power of attorney. Galhotra signed on all papers in good faith. Bhullar and deed writer used a photograph of Galhotra, which was clicked at Tehsildar’s office to buy the property.
The accused reportedly prepared forged documents of power attorney with real signatures and photograph of Galhotra and gave all powers to Jasbir Kaur, his mother.
After getting forged power of attorney, the accused sold commercial plots to Sudesh Kumari, Suman Bansal, Harsimran Singh, Supinder Kaur, Parmod Kumar and Pankaj.
The accused sold two separate properties, including five acre agriculture land at Mirankot village and 4,000 sqyd at Muradpura village.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (city-2) inquired into the matter on complaint of Galhotra and gave instructions to register a case at the Civil Lines police station. The Police has registered a case under Sections 420,465, 467,468,471 and 120B in this regard. No arrests have been made so far.
