Industries and Technical Education Minister Bikram singh Thakur today asserted that action would be taken against the officials who were responsible for depriving the genuine Below Poverty Line (BPL) families of their rights of getting registered in different panchayats.

He was speaking while presiding over a block-level officers and panchayat secretaries meeting for reviewing the progress of development work at Block Development Office at Pragpur. He said the work should be completed in a time-bound manner.

He said under the MGNREGA programme, besides construction of roads and water conservation projects, other development work need to taken in hand for overall development of panchayats.

The minister pulled up panchayat secretaries for ignoring the laid down norms by deleting the names of the poor from BPL list. The government had asked to remove those names who were not falling in the category.

He expressed concern that solar lights, installed by panchayat pradhans, got damaged before the warranty period but no action was initiated against the firm which supplied these solar lights.
