The state police are still clueless about notorious western Uttar Pradesh criminal who escaped from the police custody two days ago. More than 50 cases have been registered against Amit Malik, alias Bhura, who had managed to escape from the police custody in Baghpat while he was taken for court trial.
The joint team of Uttarakhand and the Uttar Pradesh police conducted surprise raids at different places to apprehend the hardcore criminal, but their efforts had ended without reaching to any fruitful conclusion, despite three days had passed since he escaped.
Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP), BS Sidhu said the investigating police team was keeping a close eye through electronic surveillance to nab him.
The DGP said the police had found vital clues about his whereabouts, and he would be apprehended soon.
Police sources revealed that Bhura was wanted in more than 50 cases of loot, dacoity, kidnapping, murder etc. in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, New Delhi, Rajasthan, and other neigbhouring states. He made conspiracy to flee from the police custody while he was in Dehradun jail.
DGP Sidhu told that DIG (Garhwal) Sanjay Gunjyal along with Special Task Force, and Special Operations Group officials were camping in Baghpat to know his whereabouts. It is noteworthy that Malik was recently arrested in connection with a shootout outside the Roorkee jail on August 5, in which three persons were killed and six others injured in the gunfight allegedly planned to eliminate, Cheenu Pandit on day he was released on bail.
The Uttarakhand Police had carried intense checking drive after sealing the inter-state borders, but no suspect was apprehended.
