Members of the Christian community observed Palm Sunday with religious fervor here today. They carried out a peace march on the occasion.

Organised by different churches, the march kicked off from the Salvation Army Headquarters situated in Shastri Nagar. It passed through various markets of the city, including, Lawrence Road, Court Road, Queen’s road and other areas.

Daniel B Das, organising secretary of the festival, said, “Palm Sunday is celebrated to commemorate the arrival of Jesus Christ as a victorious king in Jerusalem.”

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
