UDHAMPUR: Reiterating the demand to give full powers to panchayats, JK&NPP president and former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia said full powers should be given to the panchayats before the Block Development elections.

Reiterating the demand to give full powers to panchayats, JK&NPP president and former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia said full powers should be given to the panchayats before the Block Development elections. He also said that honorarium of sarpanchs and panchs should also be increased from 10,000 and 5,000, respectively.While addressing a meeting of nearly 350 sarpanchs and panchs from the Udhampur constituency at the party office, Mankotia said all leaders of the recognised political parties of J&K should be allowed to meet in terms of fair elections. — OC
