Careers related to fashion and design have become mainstream careers as the fashion industry is growing exponentially in India and the demand for professionally qualified workforce in this field is very high. "The careers of tomorrow are skill oriented and there are a lot of avenues within creative and design domains that are still unexplored. The design industry in India is a 2,97,000 crore industry which is witnessing a CAGR of 10 per cent. Students opting for different fashion and design courses will be highly in demand in the next few years", said Prof. Nandita Abraham CEO - Pearl Academy. She was visiting Chandigarh last week as part of the institute's initiative to reach out to students in Punjab. Several new initiatives have been launched to support students and provide right exposure to aspiring designers from Punjab.  “To encourage these aspirants, we have introduced a number of new initiatives like 250 student scholarships. We have also introduced  'Canvass'- the Incubation Cell,  which aims to provide an ecosystem that will foster and support innovation, creativity and knowledge based entrepreneurship amongst alumni and students of Pearl Academy”, added Nandita. Blended curriculum that involves synergy between the traditional and the new age digital teaching paradigms, strong industry connect and tie ups with international institutes are some of the key measures that the institue has adopted to make the courses relevant for the fst changing fashion world. The institute offers over 30 UG and PG courses in design communication, fashion business, fashion styling, product design, interiors and space design apart from the fashion design courses. While the design courses are of four year duration comprising a pathway of diploma, the business courses are of three-year duration.
