IIT Madras to mentor two new IITs

IIT Madras will be mentoring two new IITs — IIT Palakkad and IIT Tirupati. The two new IITs are ready to receive the first batch of 120 students each for the academic year 2015-2016. These IITs will offer BTech courses in four core branches — Civil, Computer Science, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering —  with 30 seats in each branch.  Till a Director is appointed by MHRD for each of these IITs, the Director of IIT, Madras Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi will be the Mentor Director. Senior faculty members Prof. P. B. Sunil Kumar and Prof. K. N. Satyanarayana have been appointed as Professor-in-charge for IIT Palakkad and IIT Tirupati respectively.

“We have planned and worked extensively over the past 10 months to ensure that when we begin classes in August 2015, we give the first batch of students an educational and living experience comparable to that at any existing IIT”, said Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director - IIT Madras and Mentor Director for IIT Palakkad and IIT Tirupati.

Four students get internship at SC in Hawaii

Four students of O.P. Jindal Global University have been selected as externs to pursue the Summer Clerkship at the Supreme Court of the State of Hawaii in the USA.  The Summer Judicial Clerkship Programme hosted by the Supreme Court of Hawaii is conducted in collaboration with the Jindal Global Law School and is supported by the University Of Hawaii William S. Richardson School Of Law. Of the four students selected for the six week internship, three — Aparajita Sheel, Ishnoor Saini, and  Swarnim Swasti are fourth year students, while Avni Choudhary is a student of third year of BA LLB.

Student exchange programme

Four students of JK Business School (JKBS), Gurgaon will visit California State University-Monterey Bay, USA for academic exchange programmes. 

The selected students — Dheeraj Yadav, Monika Sharma, Jaspreet Kaur and Kapil Jain —will get an opportunity to learn for one full term study tour from June to August. 

During this tenure, the students will get a hold of Global Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Agribusiness, Venture Formation/Finance, and International Comparative Management apart from other curriculum activities. 

The students have been paid under “Govind Hari Singhania Global Leadership Award” and on successful completion the students shall be awarded certificates from the California State University, USA. — TNS
