Prime Minister’s scholarship scheme
Applications are invited by the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defense, Government of India for Prime Minister’s scholarship scheme from candidates who have joined the professional courses in the academic year 2015-2016. These scholarships are available for dependent wards/widows of Ex-Servicemen and Ex-Indian coast guard. Scholarships are awarded for Medical, Technical, Management or other courses given in the list of eligible courses.
Eligibility:
- Students who have taken admission in 2015 are only eligible to apply for PMSS 2015-16. Students should have scored 60% and above in Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) i.e 10+2 / Diploma / Graduation.
- Students who are dependent wards / widows of ex servicemen & ex Coast Guard personnel who died in harness / disabled due to causes attributable to military service / coast guard service, irrespective of the rank.
Number of award(s): 4000.
Duration of award(s): Two to five years as duration of the course approved by the concerned Regulatory Body (Except one year for B Ed).
Details: The amount of scholarship would be as follows:
- Rs2000 per month for boys
- Rs2250 per month for girls
These scholarships are paid annually after selection.
Selection Criteria: Applications will be short listed based on Ex Servicemen/Ex Coast Guard category and percentage of marks obtained in MEQ.
How to apply: One candidate to submit only one application form for one course. Application forwarded in any other format will not be considered. Application to be forwarded on plain A4 size paper (typed or handwritten) in the prescribed format duly completed in all respects with superscription on the envelope “Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for the Academic Year 2015-16”. Documents to be attached along with PMSS Application Form:-
- Self attested copy of PPO to be attached in support of the Category 1 to 5, as mentioned in Para 7 of Information Brochure.
- Self attested copy of Matriculation or equivalent examination certificate for verification of date of birth.
- Self attested copy of mark sheet of MEQ as applicable (e.g. 10 plus 2, Graduation / Diploma). In case the MEQ is Graduation / Diploma, then mark sheets of all semester are required to be submitted.
- Original Bonafide Certificate to be signed by Registrar / Dean / Principal of College/Institution pertaining to the course for which scholarship is applied.
- Photocopy of 1st Page of Bank Pass Book (PNB / SBI only) showing the Name & Account Number of the student.
Note: Application form is to be deposited by individual to respective RSB / Directorate General of Coast Guard. Applications duly recommended by RSB’s / Directorate General of Coast Guard will be considered by KSB. Therefore, candidates are advised not to forward applications directly to KSB. Applications received directly at KSB will be returned unactioned to individual.

IMF scholarships for Asian students in Japan
Applications are invited for Japan-IMF Scholarship programme from Asian students. The programme comprises two tracks: the partnership track and the open track. By training future macroeconomic managers in these countries, the JISPA aims to enable them to better formulate sound economic and financial stability policies needed for sustainable growth and development. JISPA allows scholars to study a specially designed graduate level course concentrating on macroeconomics at an IMF partnership university (partnership track) and to study graduate course in macroeconomics or a related field at either the master’s or PhD level at any leading university in Japan (Open Track).
Eligibility: Candidates should be currently working for one of the following or related government agencies: central bank, ministry of economy, ministry of finance, ministry of planning/development, ministry of trade/commerce, tax administration, national statistics bureau, or financial regulatory agencies.
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent with at least 16 years of formal education.
- Applicants must have an English language proficiency, which needs to be demonstrated as equivalent to or more than an official TOEFL score of 550 or iBT79-80. If TOEFL scores are not available, then an overall IELTS score of at least 6.0 can be substituted.
- Priority is given to applicants (1) whose age is below 40; and (2) who have not yet obtained a master’s degree from a university outside of their own country; and (3) who have the minimum of two-three years work experience in the public sector.

Duration of award(s):
For Partnership Track: The scholarship covers one year.
For Open Track: For a master’s degree, a scholarship can be awarded for up to two consecutive one-year periods and for a PhD degree for up to three consecutive one-year periods.
Details:
For Partnership Track: Scholarships provide for admission and tuition fees; a monthly stipend (including a housing and subsistence allowance); medical/accident insurance; one round trip economy class air-ticket; and a lump-sum allowance to cover visa application costs and testing fees (such as TOEFL) etc.
For Open Track: The scholarship covers all reasonable expenses a scholar is expected to incur; admissions and tuition fees; stipend (including a housing and subsistence allowance).
