School of health sciences at UPES
Expanding its portfolio of courses, the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, has launched the School of Health Sciences this year. The School of Health Science is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India and will offer the following specialised programmes from 2019 session:
- BSc (Food, Nutrition & Dietetics)
- BBA (Hospital& Healthcare Management)
- Diploma in Pharmacy
- Bachelor of Pharmacy
Sharing insights on healthcare sector in India, Dr. Neeraj Mahindroo, Dean, School of Health Sciences, UPES, highlighted that there was immense scope for students in the healthcare sector as demand for qualified professionals was high. Laying stress on the importance of Industry-driven curriculum and hands on training for students pursuing courses in healthcare sector, Dr Mahindroo, said that institutes and industry have to come together to euip students with skills that will make them highly employable after completing a professional degree. He said that the aim of the new school at UPES was to produce industry-ready professionals and the courses will include extensive internship programmes to enable students to hone their skills.
