Focusing on the widening employability gap in the country and the need for educational institutions to be more proactive in bridging this gap Shoolini University, Solan, launched Mission 130 initiative earlier this week. "Under this programme the university will work to ensure that the students are industry ready and partner with top companies to achieve 100 per cent placement, but also ensure that 30 per cent of them are able to move into the top league career wise", said Prof. P.K. Khosla,Vice Chancellor of the university. Mission 130 includes partnerships with top global and Indian companies and upskilling of students to the needs to these companies. "Students under Mission 130 will also go through rigorous upskilling through the university's SPRINT programmes that focus on enhancing their personality, communication and technical skills," added Professor Khosla. He said that none of the students should be left out in securing a gainful employment and educational institutions have to focus on this if the country has to utilize its demographic dividend optimally. “Some of the best companies on India and MNCs like the ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, LG Electronics, and Tata etc have hired students of the university with an average salary of Rs 6.5 lakh. Even in engineering and science, and other areas more than 80 per cent students have got placed in quality companies”, said Khosla. The university is in talks with a leading technology MNC on a partnership in robotics and data mining.
