Sirsa said the DSGMC had received a number of complaints from the Sikh community about the movie, directed by Aanand L Rai.

He said Khan had been shown wearing “gatra kirpan” (an article of Sikh faith), causing outrage among the Sikh community worldwide. He said according to the tenets of Sikhism, only an Amritdhari Sikh could wear ‘gatra kirpan’. He requested the police to lodge an FIR against Rai and Khan. He also urged them to stop the promotion of the movie.
