Dehradun, September 8
Corrupt government officials, who demand bribe from people for doing their jobs done, would face the music as the vigilance cell of the Uttarakhand Police is geared up to catch them red handed.
The vigilance cell has also started a page—Fight Against Corruption Uttarakhand—on popular social networking site Facebook, to create awareness among residents so that they can report corruption cases in government departments.
Department officials have warned that strict action would be taken against officials to check corruption cases in government departments in the state.
It is equally pertinent to mention here that in the last one week, the vigilance cell had arrested government officials red handed in two separate cases for accepting bribe.
In the first case, Village Development Officer of Sitarganj, Udham Singh Nagar, Prem Shankar Gangwar was arrested while accepting bribe. Also, Horticulture Department Inspector Om Prakash Balodi was arrested in Dehradun last week.
Director of Vigilance Cell Ashok Kumar said department officials were instructed to keep an eye on corrupt government officials in the state. The department staff was told to take swift action against complaints registered by residents.
Kumar said identity of complainants, who wished not to be quoted, would be kept confidential. He appealed to the people of the state to immediately report to the vigilance cell if any government official demanded bribe from them.
Complainants can register their complaints on toll-free number (18001806666) or log on to www.vigilance.uk.gov.in.
