BJP all set to have its first F’bad mayor
Faridabad, January 9
With the BJP securing a comfortable majority in the 40-member House of the Municipal Corporation here, the party will have its first-ever Mayor, a senior BJPoffice-bearer said.
Since the party has won 29 seats, it will bag all top three posts. He said the main contest for the post of Mayor, reserved for SCs this time, was likely between Suman Bala (ward 12) and Suman Bharti (ward 13) though the third such seat has gone to BJP candidate Naresh Numberdar (ward 28). The fourth seat has been won by Independent Rattan Lal.
Meanwhile, the number of Independent winners has gone up to 11 after the recounting of votes in ward 37. Deepak Chaudhary has been declared the winner against the earlier result announcing the victory of Mahesh Goyal last night. A couple — Jaiveer Khatana and Sheetal — has managed to create a kind of record after winning from ward 3 and 4, respectively. Similarly, siblings Sandeep and Vikas Bhardwaj have registered victory from ward 15 and 17, respectively. — TNS
