Dehradun, January 22
The BJP announced the candidates for the remaining six Assembly seats in the state today.
The party gave ticket to Mayor Vinod Chamoli from the Dharampur Assembly seat in Dehradun. BJP spokesperson Munna Singh Chauhan was given the ticket from the Vikasnagar Assembly seat while his wife Madhu Chauhan got ticket from Chakrata in Dehradun.
In the Ramangar Assembly seat, the BJP fielded former MLA Diwan Singh Bisht while Jogendra Rautela was given ticket from the Haldwani Assembly seat. The party fielded Govind Singh Bisht from the Bhimtal seat.
The the Dharampur Assembly seat was the toughest call for the BJP as Mayor Vinod Chamoli and Dehradun Mahanagar BJP president Umesh Agarwal were vying for the ticket.
The past experience of Vinod Chamoli as the chairman of previous Dehradun municipality and the Mayor of the Dehradun Municipal Corporation worked in his favour.
Similarly, the BJP relied on internal surveys in case of couple Munna Singh Chauhan and Madhu Chauhan who were found the best suited candidates from Vikasnagar and Chakrata, respectively.
The BJP has announced candidates for all 70 Assembly seats. The party’s first list had 64 candidates, the remaining six candidates were announced yesterday.
