Commencing a course correction following the electoral debacle in the Vidhan Sabha elections, state BJP chief Vijay Sampla today sacked Janardan Sharma, convener of their media cell. Action against few more office-bearers is also expected in the coming days.
Sharma, in a press note without party approval, had blamed the party’s infighting and their alliance with SAD as the main reasons. The party would also take up certain cases of indiscipline pertaining to Jalandhar and Amritsar besides an overall review of the party performance in the state, party sources said.
A senior party functionary said: “Discussing internal party matters in the media is gross indiscipline. Poor performance of the party will be analysed by the high command in private. Sharma, in his note, has made allegations against the Centre and state leadership, party ministers and also the alliance partner, which has been taken seriously by the high command”.
The party is also likely to take note of controversial meetings and reactions on party performance in the recent elections in Ludhiana. In one of the meetings, references made regarding the poor show and its reasons found way to the local press.
