The Congress emerged as the biggest party in the Khanna MC elections. Eight Independent candidates also won in these elections.
Anil Datt Phally, a former BJP leader and a cousin of BJP Minister Anil Joshi, won his seat. His wife also won as an Independent candidate. Anil Datt Phally was expelled from the BJP.
However, the Congress claimed to have won 15 seats, while ADC-cum-SDM Khanna Ajay Sood put this figure at 14. He said Ward No. 28 candidate was Independent as per the nomination.
As per the election results, Akali Dal won 6 seats, BJP 5 and Independent candidates got 7 seats. Official results claimed that Independent candidates won 8 seats.
As per the results, Netar Kaur, Independent candidate from Ward No. 1; Iqbal Singh of Akali Dal from Ward No. 2; and Gurminder Singh Lali of Congress from Ward No. 3 were declared winners.
Kuldeep Kaur of the Congress from Ward No. 4, Krishapal Singh, Independent candidate from Ward No. 5, Sunil Kumar of the Congress from Ward No. 6, Ajanjeet Kaur of the Congress from Ward No. 7, Sarabdeep Singh Kalirao of the BJP from Ward No. 8, Sanjiv Dhamija of the BJP from Ward No. 9 and Talwinder Kaur Roasha, Independent candidate from Ward No. 10, won the elections.
Jasvir Singh of the Congress from Ward No. 11, Gurmeet Singh Nagpal Singh of the Congress from Ward No. 12, Jasdeep Kaur of the Akali Dal from Ward No. 13, Sudhir Sonu of the BJP from Ward No. 14, Surinder Kumar Bawa, Independent candidate from Ward No. 15, Kavita Sharma of the BJP from Ward No. 16 and Surinder Kumar Bawa, Independent candidate from Ward No. 17, registered win.
Pal Singh, Independent candidate from Ward No. 18, Rubi Bhatia of the Akjali Dal from Ward No. 19, Sham Lal of the Congress from Ward No. 20, Jatinder Devgan of the BJP from Ward No. 21, Ravinder Singh Babbu of the Congress from Ward No. 22, Jaswant Kaur of the Congress from Ward No. 23, Rajni Phally, Independent candidate from Ward No. 24, Anil Datt Phally, Independent candidate from Ward No. 25, Rajinder Singh Jeet of the Akali Dal from Ward No. 26, Sukhdev Singh of the Akali Dal from Ward No. 27, Gurmeet Kaur Congress/Independent from Ward No. 28, Gurdeep Kaur of the Congress from Ward No. 29, Sulakshna Pathak of the Congress from Ward No. 30, Ved Parkash of the Congress from Ward No. 31, Vijay Sharma of the Congress from Ward No. 32 and Vikas Mehta of the Congress from Ward No. 33 were declared winners.
