Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay has said senior party leaders will pinpoint the state government’s drawbacks and give their opinions on strengthening the party at conclaves of the party workers slated to be organised in Dehradun on January 10 and 11 and Haldwani on January 20 and 21.

Talking to mediapersons here today, Upadhyay said the conclave would begin in Dehradun on January 10 while the party workers will congregate in Haldwani on January 20.

Upadhyay said All India Congress Committee national general secretary Ambika Soni is likely to chair the conclave in which suggestions and feedbacks would be received from party workers.

He said a concrete plan would be made to strengthen the party for the forthcoming Assembly elections slated to be organised in 2017.

He said party workers would observe “Sarva Dharam” sabha to commemorate the return of MK Gandhi from South Africa to the country on January 9.

He said Chief Minister Harish Rawat is likely to address a gathering in Gandhi Park, Dehradun during the sabha.

Upadhyay said the Pradesh Congress Committee’s membership drive has been extended by a month till February 28 this year, considering the state’s geographical limitations.

He said party workers had been told to sensitise masses to the party’s ideology and to work towards enrolment of new members under the membership campaign drive.

Upadhyay said the party workers will protest in Haridwar on January 29 in order to put pressure on yoga guru Baba Ramdev as he had turned inactive on the black money issue, since the BJP was voted to power at the Centre.

He said the Centre should initiate effective steps to bring black money from foreign nations to the country.

Sanjay Kapoor, Dhirendra Pratap, Vijay Saraswat and Rajeev Jain were present on the occasion.
