Congress Rajya Sabha MP Anand Sharma today described demonetisation as the biggest scam of the century and promised a probe under the monitoring of Supreme Court committee, when the Congress comes to power at the Centre.
Sharma, while addressing a press conference here today, said the Modi government had befooled people in the name of demonetisation. It was the biggest scam of the century that needs to be probed, he added.
“Ninety-eight per cent of currency that was in circulation has gone back to banks. Now, the BJP needs to reply where is the black money. All cash is not black money. Black money is in the form of stocks and real estate and thus demonetisation was a big farce,” he added.
Sharma said the Modi government would be completing three years in office on May 16. The publicity stunts and rhetoric had been the achievements of this government, he said.
Sharma said Congress MPs would continue to boycott the Prime Minister in Parliament as the latter had lowered the dignity of the Prime Minister’s post. His latest remark against former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh revealed this.
Sharma said the Modi government was continuing with its policies of rendering a step-motherly treatment to Congress-ruled states. State Congress spokesman Mathura Dutt Joshi was also present.
