State Congress senior vice-president Suryakant Dhasmana said here yesterday that party workers would go door to door to apprise people of the achievements of the Congress-led state government.
Dhasmana, while addressing a meeting at the Kali Mandi Enclave on the GMS Road, said the government had fulfilled all promises made by the party in its election manifesto of the 2012 Assembly poll.
He said the biggest achievement of the government was regularisation of slums that benefited as many as one lakh families. He added people below poverty line had taken the benefit of various social welfare schemes launched by the state government. “The initiatives such as Indira Amma Canteen has been highly successful as produce from hill areas are getting promoted through these joints run by women self-help groups,” he said.
Dhasmana said the Congress-led government had brought the Char Dham Yatra back on track after the 2013 natural disaster. Livelihood of five lakh families in Uttarkahand is directly linked to the yatra.
He added the BJP after 2013 natural disaster had been claiming that it would take the government 10 years to resume the Char Dham Yatra. However, the state government proved it wrong and successfully started the yatra in 2014, he said.
Senior Congress leaders Devendra Arora, Jagpal Sharma, Budhiballabh Dabral and Manoj Saklani also spoke.
