Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress chief Kishore Upadhayay today urged party activists to follow footprints of founder member of Banaras Hindu University Pt Madan Mohan Malaviya.

He said that the role played by him during Indian freedom movement was commendable.

The Congress leaders paid floral tributes to Malaviya in a remembrance ceremony held at Rajeev Bhawan here today.

After paying homage to him, Upadhayay said that Malaviya also played pivotal role for uplift of weaker sections of society.

The activists said that Malaviya had visited Dehradun and was known for improving modern education system in India.

State Labour Minister HC Durgapal, Rajendra Shah, Teeka Ram Pandey, Lal Chand Sharma, Sunita Prakash and many others were present.
