CPM to hold convention at Karanprayag on Dec 27

A total of 160 delegates will take part in the 11th state-level convention of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) slated to take place at Karanprayag in Chamoli district from December 27 to 29.

The venue of the convention has been named after freedom fighter Chandra Singh Garhwali. The convention will also honour Satyaprakash and Bachi Ram Kaunswal, who have been office-bearers of the CPM since 1964. Rajya Sabha member Tapan Sen will also be addressing the convention.

A meeting of the CPM leaders took place today in Dehradun to oversee the preparations for the convention. The convention will discuss the issue of party’s expansion in the state. Rain disaster, migration, unemployment, corruption and economic equality will be the prominent issues likely to be taken for deliberations in the meeting.

Among others, Surendra Singh Sajwan,Virendra Bhandari, Indu Naudiyal, Rajendra Purohit and Lekraj participated in the meeting.
