While the BJP has a lot at stake in Ward No. 8 (comprising Sectors 37, 38 and 38 West) from where city Mayor Arun Sood is contesting for the second time, the ward has a list of problems too.
Mayor Arun Sood is sitting councillor from Ward No. 8, who will face the challenge from Congress spokesperson Rajesh Sharma in the upcoming MC poll. Both Sood and Sharma are advocates by profession and had contested the last MC poll from the same ward, in which Sood had defeated Sharma.
While Sood claimed to have carried out lots of development works in Ward No. 8, there are still problems such as poor lifting of garbage, damaged road gullies and blockage in sewer lines in the ward.
A visit of the ward reveals that there were heaps of garbage at many places. Besides, low pressure water supply, especially in summers, is also a problem, which ward residents are raising before the candidates, who are busy in door-to-door campaigning these days.
“There should be ramps for handicapped persons in the green belts and parks in the ward,” said Arun Kumar, a resident of Sector 38.
