As candidates step up the tempo for the Punjab Assembly poll, it’s a war out here in Dera Bassi with their family members helping them in the election campaign.
Involved in every aspect of campaigning, they may be working behind the scene but wield enormous control over canvassing.
Making a robust attempt to give a boost to canvassing, SAD-BJP combine candidate NK Sharma, family members of the MLA have come out of the comfort of their home and seeking votes for him.
The sitting MLA’s wife, two brothers and their wives, his sisters and even friends have divided the area in the Constituency for an effective campaigning.
“Not only my wife and sons, my brother and brother-in-law too are helping me out. Many of them have come to Zirakpur and have begun the door-to-door campaign,” the MLA said.
Sharma, wife of SAD-BJP candidate NK Sharma is at the forefront of her husband’s campaign and is moving around Zirakpur and nearby villages with a group of women workers and relatives.
Busy in visiting one village after another, Babita has been telling the voters as to how her husband can be “beneficial” for the area as an MLA besides making people aware about the development works carried out during his tenure.
Sharma’s sisters Anita and Puspa are touring Zirakpur and Dera Bassi and are addressing “nukkad” meetings. With almost two weeks to go for the polls, everybody from the family is canvassing separately. “It is not possible to go for campaigning together as the elections are round the corner. We are all going separately and campaigning in our own ways,” said Dharminder Kumar Sharma, brother of NK Sharma.
Dharminder Kumar Sharma, who is also the councillor of Ward No.18 starts his day, along with his wife Kaveri Sharma, at 6 am in the morning. They hold a number of meetings besides carrying out door-to door-campaigning.
Dharminder Kumar and his wife Kaveri Sharma are taking care of Dera Bassi and Lalru circles While Yadvindra Sharma, younger brother of NK Sharma, is also actively participating in canvassing in Zirakpur with his wife Rajni.
Sharma’s two sons Piyush and Ayush Sharma, apart from campaigning in the area, remain at home, attending to workers and ssupporters pouring in.
