Gill constituency SAD candidate files nomination

Darshan Singh Shivalik (61), SAD candidate from the Gill constituency, filed his nominations here today.

He was accompanied by his wife Paramjit Kaur Shivalik, a Municipal Corporation Councilor, who was the covering candidate for her husband.

An affidavit submitted by the sitting MLA showed that he owns assets worth Rs 5.09 crore, along with two cars and a gas agency. The papers submitted by the SAD candidate stated an increase in his movable assets than those mentioned in papers submitted in 2012. In the past Assembly elections, the movable assets were worth Rs 37.53 lakh, but now they value Rs 1.05 crore. The income shown in 2012 was Rs 5.75 lakh, while it is Rs 15.20 lakh (annual income as per Income Tax returns) this year. He owns two cars, a residential building and a commercial building in Barewal area.

Shivalik said he was ready to give a tough fight to any candidate. No other candidate filed nomination papers from the district today.

The nomination procedure will continue till January 18. The candidates can roll back their names by January 21.
