As many as 53 PCR vans and 42 rider bikes have already been deployed to ensure security. Foot patrolling is also being carried out. The nakas will aim at checking liquor smuggling, cow smuggling, illegal arms and movement of anti-social elements,” said commissioner of police Navdeep Singh Virk.

A police spokespersons said the law and order situation in the city was satisfactory and would have no effect on the forthcoming Delhi elections. However, issues such as illegal construction in 900 m restricted localities, rampant unrest among workers in industrial areas and row over toll at the Kherki Daula toll plaza might be blown out of proportion to create disturbance, he added. — TNS
