Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas will lead the party in the 2017 Assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference here today, state AAP in charge Vivek Yadav said Vishwas would lead the party’s campaign in the 2017 Assembly elections.
He said senior Uttarakhand AAP leader Anoop Nautiyal would head the party and announce all protest programmes in the state.
He said AAP had high hopes from Uttarakhand, particularly after the Haridwar panchayat election verdict in which both BJP and Congressperformed poorly.
It shows that the people of the state were looking for a third option, he said.
Regional parties had failed to win the confidence of the people of Uttarakhand.
Yadav said despite not having a representation in the state Assembly, AAP was playing the role of the principal opposition party.
He said the party would hold conventions in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of the state shortly.
Anoop Nautiyal said AAP workers in the state were fully geared up for the Assembly elections. He said both BJP and Congress had befooled the people of the state.
He added that a Chipko- like movement started by AAP workers against the acquisition of tea garden land had pledged party’s commitment to work for safeguarding the environment of the region.
