Muftis land in winter capital

Chief Minister designate Mehbooba Mufti arrived in Jammu this afternoon along with her mother and sisters to take oath as the first woman Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow.

Wearing a green suit and scarf, PDP president Mehbooba landed in Jammu in Spicejet aircraft from Srinagar at 12:30 pm. As instructed by her, the PDP ensured that her arrival remained low-key. Mehbooba was accompanied by her mother Gulshan Begam, sisters Rubiya Sayeed and Mehmooda Sayeed and her two daughters Iltija Iqbal and Irtiqa Iqbal.Eightyseven days after the death of her father and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mehbooba is finally set to restart an innings in alliance with the BJP from Monday.

Her entire family, including her mother, daughters, siblings, brothers-in-law, cousins and uncles will be present at the oath-taking ceremony. On her big day, Mehbooba is likely to miss her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who was her teacher, guide and friend. She learnt the basics of politics from him.
