Congress candidate Davinder Singh Babla, who is contesting from Ward No. 18, was the richest candidate in the MC poll till yesterday, but today his sister Balwinder Kaur overtook him in the crorepati list with total assets worth Rs 26.61 crore.
Balwinder Kaur, who was a covering candidate of SAD councillor Harjinder Kaur (Ward No. 15), today become the official candidate of the SAD from Ward No. 15 after the returning officer rejected the nomination papers of Harjinder Kaur.
Balwinder Kaur and her husband Roopi Singh’s total assets are worth Rs 26.61 crore whereas Congress candidate Davinder Babla and his wife, total assets were Rs 22.33 crore.
As per the documents submitted by Balwinder Kaur, she owns movable property worth Rs 28.36 lakh and immovable assets Rs 60 lakh. Her husband owns movable assets worth Rs 52.64 lakh and immovable worth Rs 25.20 crore.
Balwinder Kaur, a resident of Sector 27, also has jewellery worth Rs 7.50 lakh and Rs 2.14 lakh.
Though a Tata 709 truck is on her name, her husband owns a BMW and Innova car. In the Congress among the crorepati nominees were Davinder Singh Babla, Rana Karanveer Singh, Harmohinder Singh Lucky, Poonam Sharma and Subhash Chawla.
In the BJP, Raj Bala Malik, Asha Kumari Jaswal and Rajesh Kumar Gupta, are in the list of crorepati nominees. In SAD, Inderjeet Kaur Kang also has total assets worth Rs 16.52 crore.
