Office-bearers of dental assn elected

The Jammu branch of the Indian Dental Association (IDA) has elected its executive body at the annual general body (AGM) meeting held here.

The IDA is a professional and non-political association framed with the motive to improve the oral health of the public by innovation in education, training, research, and related public health enhancement programmes.

Dr Bhupinder Singh took over as the president, while Dr Gautam Sharma was unanimously elected president of the association for the year 2016. Dr Rajiv Mengi, oral pathologist at the Institute of Dental Sciences, will continue as the treasurer of the association.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ritesh Gupta, outgoing president, appealed to all dental surgeons of the Jammu province to join the IDA to make it a strong body and work for the uplift of the dental profession.

Others who were elected included Dr OP Singh (vice-president), Dr Umang Jamwal (assistant secretary), Dr Kunal Vuthoo (convener), Dr Sarang Khajuria and Dr Himja Mengi (representatives of the state government).

The Jammu branch of the IDA has been organising dental health awareness camps, professional seminars and practical workshops for the dental fraternity.

Later, Dr Gautam Sharma said the continuing dental education (CDE) programmes would be held at regular intervals as talks were going on with prominent speakers of the country for the purpose.
