Rewari, January 29
Rao Inderjit Singh, Union Minister of State for Urban Development, said today that he had urged the then Congress government several times to make serious efforts for resolving the dispute over sharing the Ravi-Beas river water so that Haryana could get its share at the earliest, but the request was not heeded.
Interacting with mediapersons after inaugurating the newly built main gate of Raipur village here, he said getting Ravi-Beas waters was need of the hour for Haryana, especially South Haryana where farmers were struggling to get adequate canal water for irrigating their fields.
Hitting out at INLD leader Abhay Chautala for his remarks against the BJP government over various issues, the union minister said instead of making efforts to get his father and brother released from jail, Abhay was leaving no stone unturned to establish himself as a leader by issuing illogical statements.
The Rao also blamed former CM Bhupinder Hooda for the backwardness of the Ahirwal region, stating that he did nothing for this region during his two consecutive tenures.
About the initiation of construction of the proposed AIIMS-like medical institute in Manethi village, the union minister said Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely had assured him of making a provision for the project in the coming budget.
Earlier, the union minister heard public grievances at Garhi Bolni village and directed the officials concerned to redress the grievance on priority.
